AUGUST as an Adjective/The Newest Dreamweaver Challenge + We Have Winners

The first Thursday of every month we announce the two random winners for the previous month's challenge. Scroll to the very bottom if you want to know the winners right away!

As we are heading towards back-to-school again, it is only appropriate that we break out our dictionary for this month's Dreamweaver challenge..."AUGUST as an ADJECTIVE"!
Merriam-Webster defines august as, "marked by majestic dignity or grandeur"....there were several other descriptions too and the word elegant also came into play. Now, I don't know just how dignified and stately the Dream Team can become for an entire month, but we are all going to give it a try! How about trying along with us, and linking YOUR creations to the inlinkz tool below for a chance to win the wildest stencil design your little heart is screaming for.

I suppose my "dignified" interpretation of this month's challenge is due in part to the colors chosen. Interesting how color can bring a picture of dignity to mind...but I am thinking the black and gold and rust do just that. The other part is the resist technique...it has always given me a sense of doing something a bit beyond simple...not that it is a difficult process, but rather that it IS a process. The background design (LJ927) was stenciled with Versamark ink and then sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heated, this creates a very strong austere statement of black on black. Then to begin the resist, a base of mellow yellow paper was stenciled using the same background stencil (LJ927) and the same step-by-step process using Versamark ink and sprinkled with clear embossing ink and heated. The resist was then created by using a very large stencil brush and rouging green pigment ink down one side of the background design and a warm rust pigment ink down the other side of the same design. When doing a resist technique I like to use a soft t-shirt cloth and gently wipe off this pigment ink from the clear embossed areas. The mellow golden color will shine through.

Next you will die cut the pear die (DL563) and leaf.

At this point you have a choice how you want to finish it off, the design will be shiny, but if you want the entire pear to be shiny...you can either leave the now colored background with a matte finish or you can put more Versamark ink over the entire pear and leaf using a dauber and then sprinkle it with more clear embossing powder, heat and violĂ„ a shiny pear...so whichever way you think will create a dignified and "august" pear. LOL!

So I've given it a try and we want you to enjoy our "August as an Adjective" challenge along with us. So join our August Dream it UP team and link up below. But before you do that read to see if you are one of our winners.

Here are our two random winners for the JULY "to die for" Challenge:

So, how many layers of stencilling can one get on a card? Perhaps that could be a challenge! I like the pear though and it's a great idea to build up the textures.
